“Being able to focus on what my body is capable of, instead of just what it looks like, has been a really wonderful experience. I feel strong, competent and fit. My body will never look perfect, but I am at peace with that. Instead, I am so grateful to be able to DO everything I want to do.”

Currently: part time toddler/infant teacher, full-time mom to 7 and 9 year old boys.
Previously (pre-kid life): many different adventures in corporate America
My amazing friend Elise Raimi invited me to come with her, and I was terrified to try it but didn’t want her to think I was a chicken…so I came along and accidentally got addicted. 😊
Being more in shape at age 40 than I was at age 25! Also, this is silly, but my husband is the world’s fastest hiker and I have always lagged behind him. However, these days I am right there with him even at high altitudes. Although, not without AMAZING sweat marks, as this photo at the top of Scotchman Peak will attest.
Improve my downhill skiing (moguls are very intimidating to me), go rock climbing more often, and possibly to work on unassisted pull-ups…may have to wait until next October for that one! 😘
Ridiculous hip hop and gangster rap
Favorite: slam balls, anything abs-related, push press, push-ups…I could go on and on! Notable least favorite (as in, I hate them like poison): snatches and overhead squats. 🏋️♀️😝
This will not kill me. But it might kill me. This will not kill me. But it might kill me.
The incredibly positive, supportive, happy vibe. It’s contagious: the coaches create a truly inclusive and safe environment.
I punched myself in the jaw with a 20 pound dumbbell. Don’t do that! Also, holding a plank for what felt like a very long time while sweat dripped down my nose onto the floor and people kindly pretended not to notice. [Editor’s Note: It didn’t just FEEL like a very long time, it WAS a very long time, 6+ minutes!!]
Being able to focus on what my body is capable of, instead of just what it looks like, has been a really wonderful experience. I feel strong, competent and fit. My body will never look perfect, but I am at peace with that. Instead, I am so grateful to be able to DO everything I want to do. And I used to dread situations where I might struggle physically- backpacking trips, hard snow shoe trails, etc. It is really a gift to look forward to physical challenges and know that I can (mostly) do them without a problem.
Working with kids, volunteering, camping, hiking, traveling, reading, baking, drinking wine and coffee with friends, alternately deeply enjoying/being thoroughly annoyed with my kids.
Hiking in the mountains, swimming at a tropical beach, baking in my kitchen, or reading a book on the couch with my kids
Vodka drinks, red wine and online shopping (hopefully not all at the same time)! 😋🙃
Change is possible. I rarely enjoyed working out until joining Farmgirlfit- I generally did it like a chore. Now I look forward to workouts and know that they are incredibly good for my mental state as well as my physical state. Just show up…it gets easier. And never hesitate to ask for help or guidance! It’s easy to be intimidated and overwhelmed, but everyone is there to help you.
I am so grateful to Elise for bringing me to Farmgirl, and for being the world’s best workout partner even when I’m grumpy about snatches or tripping on my jump rope.
